ESPN’s Pardon the Interruption led a very slow day in the cable sports world with an average of 769,000 viewers. The 11pm and 12am SportsCenters averaged 466,000 and 465,000 viewers respectively. Soccer ruled the cable sports landscape on Wednesday with just the Univision Deportes portion of Mexico-Panama averaging 1.637 million and a 0.7 adults 18-49 rating. On Fox Sports 1, USA’s loss to Jamaica averaged 1.231 million viewers and a 0.5 adults 18-49 rating with another 722,000 viewers on Univision Deportes. The final round of The Open golf championship on ESPN averaged 3.361 million viewers to easily lead Monday’s cable sports programming. As is almost always the case ESPN led the cable sports networks in both primetime and total day viewing for the week ending July 19. Both Univision Deportes (fueled by Gold Cup simulcasts) and Fox Sports 1 beat out ESPN2 handily in primetime. TV by the Numbers has posted updated cable coverage estimates for all the cable networks as of July 2015. We’ve culled out just the sports networks below. According to Nielsen, ESPN is in about 8.6 million more homes than Fox Sports 1 and in around 9 million more homes than NBC Sports Network.
