ESPN’s Response to Jamie Horowitz: Our streaming numbers are bigger than your TV numbers

Speaking at a recent conference Fox Sports’ (and former ESPNer) Jamie Horowitz said he’d be a little worried about SportsCenter’s falling ratings if he were ESPN. Always be punching above your weight class!

Sports Business Journal’s John Ourand interviewed ESPN’s senior vice president of SportsCenter Rob King about the topic and it’s worth reading.  While King’s comments were certainly not as snarky as I framed them in the headline, the headline, snarky though it may be does encapsulate the gist of the message.

Speaking on SportsCenter’s streaming video numbers following a recent NBA playoff game King said: “I know there are networks out there that would take an audience of 116,000 at 1 a.m.”
