Game 1 of Cavs-Warriors NBA Finals averages 17.8 million viewers, up 20% from 2014

 

The Golden State Warriors win in overtime over the Cleveland Cavaliers in game 1 of the NBA Finals averaged 17.768 million viewers and a 6.9 adults 18-49 rating. Viewership was up 20% versus the 14.8 million for 2014’s Spurs-Heat game 1 and the 18-49 rating was up 15% from last year’s 6.0.

The 17.8 million is the best for a game 1 of the NBA Finals since moving to ABC in 2003 and the most-watched game 1 since 2001 (Lakers-76ers on NBC).

The game peaked with nearly 22 million viewers (21.931M) between 11:30-11:45p ET.

The game did a 12.9 overnight rating (top 56 markets) and a 10.6/20 rating/share in the final national numbers.
