Last night’s Home Run Derby drew a 4.9 overnight rating, up 26% vs last year. Last year was a decade-long+ low in viewership and a rain-delay didn’t help, but last night’s results were more or less on par with recent year’s besides last year. At least on Twitter it seems like the new Home Run Derby format drew universal praise.
Per ESPN the Derby drew a 19.6 overnight in Cincinnati where this year’s All-Star festivities are being held, the best-ever local rating for a Derby telecast. The All-Star Legends & Celebrity Softball game drew a 2.1 overnight rating.
We’ll have the viewership number sometime around 4pm ET.
