NBA All-Star Ratings Flat, Viewership down 4% (Updated)

The NBA All-Star game averaged 7.2 million viewers and a 4.3 household rating between the TNT telecast and TBS simulcast. This year’s numbers are even in terms of household rating and down 4% in viewership vs. last year when the game was not simulcast on TBS.

Given Nielsen delays due to Presidents Day we don’t expect to see the TNT specific numbers until Wednesday. Update: 5.956M on TNT, 1.219M on TBS.

Lots of  folks will play the “it went against the Saturday Night Live” card, and that would be completely fair if last year’s game hadn’t gone against the Winter Olympics though in fairness, at least in the prelims the SNL special did ~10% better than the Winter Olympics prelims the same night last year.

Here are the numbers for All-Star Saturday Night and the NBA All-Star Game since 2006.
