(Updated) Notre Dame-Kentucky draws highest-ever cable overnight rating for college basketball

 

Update: Notre Dame-Kentucky averaged an 8.4 household rating and 14.7 million viewers according to Nielsen fast national data. The game peaked with 19.7 million viewers between 10:45-11p. The  NCAA Tournament is averaging 9.9 million total viewers on CBS and Turner networks up 2% through the same period last year, based on Nielsen Fast National audience data and the highest average viewership since 1993.

NCAA Tournament Elite Eight game between Kentucky and Notre Dame on TBS generated a 9.0/16 overnight rating/share – peaking with an 11.9/21 from 10:45-11:00 PM, ET – to deliver the highest overnight rating for a college basketball game in cable television history.

The household rating is the percentage of the all households that were tuned-in. The share is just the percentage of the households that were watching TV at the time.
