I wondered whether people hate-watching a low-scoring, nobody-wants-to-win-this (and nobody did!) contest might improve the NFL’s primetime ratings woes. So bad it’s good?! Maybe.
The “Awful Bowl,” a 6-6 overtime tie between the Seattle Seahawks and the Arizona Cardinals drew a 11.6 overnight rating . That’s down 14.7 % versus the 13.6 overnight for the week 7 Sunday Night Football matchup in 2015 (Eagles-Panthers), but that’s a big improvement versus last week’s 9.0 overnight for the Colts-Texans matchup that was down 38% verus the 2015 week 6 contest.
