Changing channels & changing habits is hard to do

November 2, 2016

File this under “stating the obvious” but… Over the past week I’ve been observing how difficult it is for Fox to get people to switch over to FS1 for the rest of the World Series post game coverage. Here’s FS1’s World Series post game viewership for the first 5 games: Game 1: 111K Game 2: 186K Game 3: 179K Game 4: (delayed until 2:30AM ET due to college football) Game 5: 269K Especially…

Are Skip Bayless and Colin Cowherd worth the money?

October 6, 2016

Forbes’ Maury Brown has a post on ratings for “Undisputed” and the simulcast of Colin Cowherd’s radio show on FS1. I generally agree with the Fox Sports’ spin here. I’ve noted several times on Twitter the increase in the numbers for Cowherd’s simulcast is a bright spot. Always be punching above your weight class! Sports Business Journal’s John Ourand interviewed ESPN’s senior vice president of SportsCenter Rob King about the topic and it’s worth reading.  While King’s comments were certainly not as snarky as I framed them in the headline, the…
