The most-watched of all time? Two words: “The Catch.” You have to go all the way back to 1982’s Cowboys-49ers NFC Championship that averaged 68.7 million viewers — nearly an 11 million viewer advantage over the Saints-Vikings game.  Even with great games and lots of snow on the ground back east, it’s hard to imagine either of today’s game’s topping the 1982 classic. NFL Conference Championships Overnight TV Ratings 2006-2016

Update 1: Per Fox Sports the Atlanta Falcons win over the Green Bay Packers drew a 27.4 overnight rating. While higher than last year’s NFC  Championship (Panthers blowout of the Cardinals in the late game) it was lower than the 31.8 for last year’s early game (Pats-Broncos). Mixed ratings bag for NFL Wild Card Saturday

Update: Though Raiders-Texans held a slight edge in overnight rating, Lions-Seahawks led viewership 26.9 million to 25.3 million. For all the bad-mouthing of the Raiders-Texans game before hand it wound up not just bettering last year’s equivalent Wild Card Saturday game, it also edged out the primetime Lions-Seahawks game. Update: the game’s viewership averaged 45.7 million viewers. The Carolina Panthers blowout victory over the Arizona Cardinals in the NFC Conference Championship drew a 26.8/40 overnight rating/share.  That’s down 8 % versus last year’s Seahawks-Packers game that aired in the early 3:00 P.M. Patriots-Broncos AFC Championship draws 53.3 million viewers

Update: the game averaged 53.3 million viewers. The Denver Broncos’ win over the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship drew a 31.8/53 overnight rating/share. That’s the highest since 1987’s Browns-Broncos OT classic (31.9 overnight rating) and up 31% versus last year’s Patriots-Colts game that aired in the primetime slot and up 9% vs the Seahawks-Packers game that aired in the equivalent 3:00 P.M. ET timeslot last year.

Update: Per NFL’s Greg Aiello the Steelers-Broncos game on CBS averaged 43 million viewers and the Seahawks-Panthers game on Fox averaged 36.7 million viewers. The Denver Broncos win over the Pittsburgh Steelers drew a 26.2/44 overnight household rating/share.
